Three new Hithcock DVD re-releases-

Universal Home Video recently announced some new special edition
releases. All of these are re-releases of Alfred Hitchcock classes. Universal
will be putting out two disc special editions for VERTIGO (seen above),
REAR WINDOW and PSYCHO. Each of these DVD editions will carry some
new and old bonus material and will be released on October 7th. VERTIGO,
which stars James Stewart, and Kim Novak, should retail at around $26.98.
In the movie a San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia
investigates the strange activities of an old friend's wife, all the while
becoming dangerously obsessed with her. The film itself will be presented in
1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with English Dolby Digital 5.1
Surround and 2.0 Mono tracks.
Bonus features on disc one will include: Feature Commentary with
Associate Producer Herbert Coleman, Restoration Team Robert A. Harris and
James C. Katz and Other Vertigo Participants, Feature Commentary with
Director William Friedkin, Foreign Censorship Ending, The Vertigo Archives,
Production Notes, Original Theatrical Trailer and Restoration Theatrical
Trailer. Disc two will carry the featurettes: Obsessed with Vertigo: New Life
for Hitchcock's Masterpiece, Partners in Crime: Hitchcock's Collaborators,
Hitchcock / Truffaut Interview Excerpts and Alfred Hitchcock Presents "The
Case of Mr. Pelham."
REAR WINDOW, which stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly, and Raymond Burr
should retail at around $26.98. In the movie a wheelchair bound
photographer spies on his neighbours from his apartment window and
becomes convinced one of them has committed murder. The film itself will
be presented in 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Mono
track. Bonus features on disc one include: Feature Commentary with John
Fawell (author of "Hitchcock's Rear Window: The Well-Made Film"),
Production Photographs, Production Notes, Theatrical Trailer and
Re-Release Trailer Narrated by James Stewart.
Bonus features on disc two will include: Rear Window Ethics: An Original

Excerpts, Breaking Barriers: The Sound of Hitchcock and Alfred Hitchcock
Presents "Mr. Blanchard's Secret." PSYCHO, which stars Anthony Perkins,
and Janet Leigh should retail at $26.98. In the movie a young woman steals
$40,000 from her employer's client, and subsequently encounters a young
motel proprietor too long under the domination of his mother. The film itself
will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English
Mono track.
