Story: While investigating the bloody aftermath of a grizzly murder, Detective
Eric Mathews has the feeling that it is the work of Jigsaw, the notorious killer
who disappeared leaving a trail of bodies and parts behind. And Mason is right.
Jigsaw is at work again. But instead of two people locked in a room with only
one unthinkable way out, there are eight. Eight strangers unaware of their
connection to each other forced to play out a game that challenges their wits
and puts their lives in jeopardy.

When it comes to films almost everybody can agree that sequels to hit movies
usually never do as good. Its sort of like a curse, most sequels usually aren't
as good as the originals but then again there are some major exceptions. Last
year director James Wan brought us the horror masterpiece Saw, the
independent feature which took both theaters and audiences by storm. Using a
great story with some very interesting characters and a shocking twist to leave
the fans with their jaws dropped to the ground. A year later Darren Lynn
Bousman brings us an all new sequel featuring the famous Jigsaw once again to
do what he does best. After many months of waiting I was so anxious and
excited to finally see it.

In this new installment we fallow Detective Eric Mathews, a cop who is on the
fast track of finding the Jigsaw killer. After a gruesome discovery Mason finds a
clue and tracks Jigsaw to his personal lair. What Mason doesn't know is that
there is a game being played during the investigation. A group of 8 strangers
awaken and find themselves trapped in a house with no exit and no clue as to
where they are. Filled with traps and deadly nerve gas, the group of strangers
must find a way out of the house (or a cure) in 2 hours time before they die.

I enjoyed the hell out of the first Saw, I thought it was a brilliant film not just
for the cool story but also for the surprising suspense and turn near the end.
So I'm happy to say that this new sequel is a must see for the fans of the first
film. In this movie we are introduced to a lot of new interesting characters and
even get to see some old ones return. I liked the new story line a lot. Much like
the first film the story to this one fits much like a puzzle. The more the film
passes the more of an understanding you have with both the characters and
plot. I enjoyed everything from the story line to the wonderful new traps set up
by the Jigsaw killer. For a sequel it does a wonderful job of giving the audience
double of what we got from the first film. This movie has more characters,
more traps, more blood and even more twists and turns. I’m also really glad
that they tied it with the first movie.

What really killed it for some of the audience in the first film was the acting (and
there is a real good reason for that). Well luckily with this film the acting is
much better and more convincing. As I mentioned before this movie has more
traps and the wonderful red stuff that we all seem to enjoy. The traps in this
film are much more terrifying and can be pretty hard to stomach if you picture
yourself in some of the characters situations. There’s everything from
headgear, poison gas, needles and even a really cool easy bake oven. With all
the cool new traps it definitely builds up some good suspense, even a few
jumpy moments here and there. This movie has twice the thrills and overall
violence which will leave the audience anticipated for what’s going to happen

As I also mentioned before this film is somewhat tied together with the first
one. The setting and visuals are almost the same, its just as dark and
imaginative. Only instead of seeing two guys trapped in a bathroom we get to
see 8 people trapped in a house fighting and trying their best to survive and
find an antidote. The direction it took is very memorable and much like the first
movie there’s a very neat twist at the end. I wont get into details but I will say
that its a very interesting one. Its not as shocking and suspenseful like it was
in the first film, but its a pretty good one none the less. Its not a perfect
sequel and I did like the first film better by half an inch. But I'm proud to say
that this sequel was worth the admission. Much like the first movie this one
isn't going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you do happen to be a big fan of
the first movie then I really recommend checking out this sequel. Overall I
enjoyed this movie a lot, I had a really great time watching it. Saw 2 has more
suspense, more blood and it's just as fun as the first movie.
