The children have officially been casted. According to STYD, actors Daniel Newman, David
Anders, Kandyse McClure and Preston Bailey will be in the upcoming CHILDREN OF THE
CORN remake. Preston Bailey is said to play Isaac and Daniel Newman will play Malachai.
The film is still set to premiere next year on the sci-fi channel. In the original film a young
couple wander into a mid-western town where all the adults are apparently dead and the
children participate in a cult that worships a malevolent force in the corn fields. Based on
a Stephen King novella.
As you might have already guess, this is a casting call for the upcoming remake (which will
be making it debut on the Sci-Fi channel). According to the QC Times, a remake of the
1983 Stephen King horror movie CHILDREN OF THE CORN will invade the Quad-Cities next
month. Although this is going back to the beginning, this marks the 8th film in the ongoing
series. Shooting will take place most of September for the movie, that will debut on cable
television’s Sci-Fi Channel next year in the United States and be distributed in theaters
around Europe. Area children will be interviewed Thursday through Monday for speaking
roles, featured roles and as background extras.
The remake is being written, directed and produced by Donald Borchers, a producer on the
original movie, which was filmed in the Sioux City, Iowa, area and spawned numerous
sequels. Borchers said he chose the Quad-Cities after receiving a recommendation from
Tom Wheeler, manager of the Iowa Film Office in the state Department of Economic
Development. Unfortunately, this is all the info we have on the project, but we'll be sure
to keep you updated.
