It's a bad day to be a zombie fan. Fangoria has given us an update on the upcoming DAY
OF THE DEAD remake. According to their report First Look has picked up the DAY OF THE
DEAD remake and plans to open it on 500 screens. The update of George A. Romero’s 1985
classic stars Ving Rhames, Mena Suvari, Nick Cannon (?!) and 2001 MANIACS' Christa
Campbell. The film was directed by Steve (HALLOWEEN: H20) Miner from a script by
Jeffrey (FINAL DESTINATION) Reddick. We don;t know the exact date but last we heard
the movie was going to hit theatres sometime in February. Romero & Zombie fans have
been breathing fire over the upcoming remake of DAY OF THE DEAD.

Ever since the film's trailer premiered, fans and zombie lovers all over have been expecting
the worst. Needless to say, we're not expecting it to be any good either. It's not that we
love the original so much, it's just that this movie looks really really bad from the trailer.
When the world is overrun by the flesh hungry dead, a small group of survivors head to an
underground military bunker in a last ditch effort to stay alive.

Of all the horror remakes coming soon, this is the one we're least looking forward to.
Fangoria received some new stills from the DAY OF THE DEAD remake.
"These are
exclusive first pics from the film,"
Reddick tells Fangoria. "I’m not counting those crappy
makeup tests that found their way on-line."
Steve (HOUSE) Miner directed the new DAY,
with Ving Rhames (from the 2003 DAWN remake, but playing Captain Rhodes here), Mena
Suvari, Nick Cannon, Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord and Stark Sands starring; NIGHT
OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D’s Dean and Starr Jones created the makeup FX. Look for Reddick’s
exclusive two-art DAY journal, covering the project’s evolution and his own stint as a
ghoul, on this site beginning this week.

08/17/06- posted up some behind scenes pictures from the upcoming DAY OF THE
DEAD remake. In the pictures you'll see actor Ving Rhames in uniform as well as a zombie
actress who is getting ready to eat. The movie is of course a remake of George Romero's
classic 3rd part of his zombie movies. Steve Miner ("Friday the 13th Part 2", "Lake Placid",
"Halloween H20") will direct the film. The script will be written by Jeffrey Reddick ("Final
Destination"). Much like the original, this film takes place in a time where the world is
overrun by the flesh hungry dead. A small group of survivors head to an underground
military bunk in a last ditch effort to stay alive.

Just the other day we made the official announcement that the cast for the upcoming
DAY OF THE DEAD has been chosen. The latest actress to hop aboard is Christa Campbell.
Christa is now going to be in DAY OF THE DEAD along with all the other actors. Christa will
also be reprising her role as Milk Maiden in Tim Sullivan's 2002 MANIACS.

It appears that the cast list for the upcoming DAY OF THE DEAD Remake has been
announced. According to Blackfilm, Ving Rhames will definitely be in the film along side
Mena Suvari. Besides Rhames and Suvari, the cast include Michael Welch, Annalynne
McCord, Stark Sands, and Nick Cannon (???). Steve Miner (Halloween H20, Friday the
13th, Part 2, 3D) will direct the film. Jeffrey Reddick wrote the screenplay. In the original,
Day of the Dead dealt with the zombie assault on a military establishment, satirizing the
military mindset in the process. The remake could be different as "Dawn of the Dead" was
a few years ago.

Updates on the DAY OF THE DEAD remake are floating around the net. Fangoria received a
quick update from screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick about the DAY OF THE DEAD remake he
has scripted for Millennium Films and Emmet/Furla Films.

"The official start date for principal photography on DAY OF THE DEAD has been set for
July 23,"
he tells Fangoria. "Everyone involved is extremely excited about the project.
They're in the process of casting as we speak. Millennium and Emmet/Furla Films will be
announcing the cast soon, and they've landed some really great, high-profile names for
the film."

In the original film, the Dead have conquered earth, leaving just small groups of people out
of their clutches. One group made up of both scientific and military personal, hiding in a
bunker somewhere in Florida tries to get in contact with other survivors of the zombie
infestation, but find themselves quite alone in this new world. Desperately searching for a
cure and therefore indulging in strange experiments to overcome this strange
transformation into zombies, the scientists loose the faith of the military, resulting in a
race against death while the zombies take over the facility..Only common sense can save
them now...

The last Day of the Dead poster we showed was pretty small and unattractive. Well now a
bigger and much better looking shot of the poster is now up.

We've heard the rumors in the past that there were plans of a remake for George Romero's
Day of the Dead. Well we waited until something was actually confirmed. With a remake to
Dawn of the Dead and two remakes for Night of the Living Dead, its no surprise that Day is
on the list of movies to be remade next. As before it was mentioned somewhere that the
guys behind the Dawn remake were going to do this one as well. Sadly thats not the case
here. Instead the people over at Nu Image/Millennium Films, Emmett/Furla Films and
Taurus Entertainment will be behind the project.
