Kartik had introduced Katori to his fans earlier this year as a new member of his family. The actor often shares photos and videos with his pup, and Katori Aaryan also has an Instagram page for herself.

“She is Katroi Aaryan because jab woh gharpe aayi thi she looked like a bowl. Itni choti si and katori jaise hi dimaag mai tha. Toh isliye katori rakh diya naam, uska bhi katori jasisa hai haircut (We named her Katori Aaryan because when she came home she looked like a small bowl. She was so small and cute and the name of ‘katori’ popped into our minds (named her Katori and her haircut also looks like a katori),” a Times Now report quoted him as saying.

Kartik had shared a cute photo of himself with the pup sitting on his face earlier this month. He captioned the photo, “Sunday with my pillow @katoriaaryan.” When he contracted Covid-19, Kartik also posted messages for the pup, emphasizing how much he missed it.

Meanwhile, Kartik is riding on the record success of its latest release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The film stars Kiara Advani opposite Kartik and set a new record for fifth weekend collections. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film also stars Tabu and Rajpal Yadav.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani, the film is a standalone sequel to Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan’s 2007 hit psychological horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

Kartik will next be seen in the action comedy Shehzada. The movie is the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and it also stars Kriti Sanon.

A photo of a smiling Terry-Thomas made an unexpected appearance and spooked this reviewer while watching comedic horror film Peechhay Tau Dekho (PTD).

When I was a kid, Terry-Thomas left a chilling mark on my memory as the villain in George Pal’s 1958 adaptation of Tom Thumb, which also starred Peter Sellers and Russ Tamblyn. Seeing Terry-Thomas’ smiling face out of the blue made me jump out of my seat.

It was the second (of possibly three) times that director Syed Atif Ali’s film managed to make an effective scare. As far as genre comparisons go, PTD leaps scare Stree and Roohi – two movies in the same vein, but with much bigger budgets and better scripts.

The PTD director once directed The Divine Pari – a film that asks you to believe that a dead child can be demonically reincarnated by its mother because she had a hardcover book of demons on a shelf in their house. .

In Syed Atif Ali’s Peechhay Tau Dekho, the comedy works most of the time, but the story could use another rewrite

In comparison, PTD stands head and shoulders above Pari. The story – about two losers who beat up a local hoodlum’s brother-in-law after a late night cricket match in their alley and took refuge in a haunted house – has a pretty good idea with a good amount of awami with an almost impromptu sound Humor (mass) that dates back to the era of Umar Sharif theater.

Comedy works most often. However, the story could use another rewrite.

Zulfi (Yasir Hussain) and Teepu (Aadi Adyel) are two good-for-nothings with a penchant for bumping into ghouls and ghosts. Escaping from a churrail (the specter of a woman, not a witch) and then djinn in a loud pre-title sequence, the two trigger the wrath of mobster Phool Maachi (Aamir Qureshi) and escape to a well-known haunted place. house in Hyderabad, Sindh (where the film is set). The dwelling is known as the place “where people go in and the corpses go out”. The house also has a secret treasure chest, but the plot completely overlooks this aspect.

In this dark and forbidden house lives Rani (Waqar Hussain) – a transgender woman and the object of a very uncomfortable humor – who offers them sanctuary but forbids them from entering a room.

Fools who see specters, their own doppelgangers, and even get scolded by the house’s former gardener, they enter the forbidden room and find, among dozens of clocks running backwards, two girls dressed in white on a swing.

Not one to heed red flags, Zulfi and Teepu fall in love with the girls we learn are named Shabnam and Mumtaz (Sara Ali, Nawal Saeed).

Shabnam likes poetry and Mumtaz likes songs. They both carry an air of the 70s, which the film eventually goes back to, to introduce the actual plot. From a slapstick horror-comedy, PTD now becomes a mystery about love, heartbreak and murder, involving a man named Nadeem (Junaid Akhter).

The transition from a carefree comedy of bumbling idiots to a drama of doom is pretty seamless. However, the seams stand out in other areas.

The story needs a lot of precision. Zulfi and Teepu’s shenanigans start repeating themselves way too often in the first 30 minutes, and the mystery aspect of the story is expected to kick in sooner. The premise also needs a much more malevolent omnipresence in the house as an actual antagonist.

At two o’clock, the PTD is half an hour too long. A shorter runtime and a rewrite that would cut sequences and tie loose story elements together would have made the film a better experience.

As far as performances go, Yasir and Aadi are, in fact, set to play the recurring lead roles in this horror-comedy franchise – if PTD pulls it off. They have the chemistry and the timing to make it work. Aamir Qureshi is fine, as is his character’s nephew played by Shariq Mehmood. The film, however, belongs to Waqar Hussain and his somewhat multi-layered performance as Rani.

If Zulfi and Teepu return for a sequel, they should also bring Rani (and a tighter story). PTD could very well be a franchise, who knows.

Produced by Eveready Pictures in association with ScreenShots and 3H Vision Productions, published by Eveready, Peechhay Tau Dekho is hitting theaters. Except for a few jokes and some unresolved story threads that have you scratching your head, there’s nothing wrong with the movie.

A gurgling baby falls from the sky, landing in a woman’s arms. As the shocks go, it’s a big shock, especially since the baby turns out to be killing unsuspecting civilians. But you have a feeling Michelle de Swarte, who plays the wife in HBO’s new horror-comedy The Baby, can handle it. Before becoming an actor, after all, De Swarte worked as a journalist, model and stand-up. She’s had her fair share of problems falling from the sky.

“My self-esteem is good,” she says, as we sit on oddly low chairs in the lobby of a London hotel. Her hair is tied in a neat ponytail, her shoes are flat, and when we arrived, I watched her slip an empty smoothie bottle behind a vase of flowers on the bar. “For the most part,” she adds, “I don’t mind failing. But that does not mean that I love myself or that I love myself every day. That doesn’t mean I don’t get into the cycle of calling myself an asshole when nobody’s home.

Like her character Natasha, De Swarte is a single, childless mixed-race woman in her early 40s, living alone. Under these circumstances, De Swarte explains with a deep, crackling laugh, it can be hard to tell if you’re a control freak or just don’t have to compromise a lot. “I woke up yesterday morning, meditated, exercised, climbed into my little steam tent and listened to Louise Hay’s positive affirmations,” she says. “I came in at one o’clock and I was like, ‘I’m going to get a pack of fags. I’m exhausted.'”

“It’s hard to play an abrasive character when you’re holding a baby”… Michelle de Swarte in The Baby. Photography: HBO

This lack of moderation, coupled with her humor, makes De Swarte intensely British, despite the fact that she has spent much of her adult life in the United States. “I lived in Los Angeles for a while,” she says. “I’ve never looked so beautiful – and I’ve never felt so sad. With all this feel-good stuff, I wonder if it’s just a thin veil to be a self-absorbed jerk.

In The Baby, Natasha is forced to care for a random murderous baby, despite being happily alone and not wanting children of her own. Bloody trips to the gas station, a violent buggy incident during a sweet game – plus a disturbing entanglement with the enigmatic Mrs. Eaves, who is apparently on a one-woman mission to murder the child.

De Swarte grew up in Brixton, London, in a strong matriarchal family, which no doubt informed her depiction of Natasha – who seems so out of step with the codified, conventional version of femininity espoused by her friends. “My grandmother is queer,” she says. “My grandmother’s sister is queer. Most of the women in my family were single mothers. And no one ever had any illusions about what he was doing and what was needed.

In her early teens, De Swarte spent time living in Women’s Aid housing and says it gave her a chance to see what happened when Disney’s fairy tale version of relationships failed. not worked. “I was very lucky that all the women in my life were open about what was going on. No one ever said, ‘You’re going to get married and have kids.’ I never thought I should do this. Has she ever thought about having kids, I ask, aware as the words come out of my mouth that it’s way beyond a personal matter? “It’s crossed my mind from time to time, because why wouldn’t it be? But I never felt any pressure to do something like that.”

Coming from a queer family also meant De Swarte didn’t feel the pressure to come out. “I was just like, ‘Yeah, I sleep with women and I sleep with men.’ And nobody gives a fuck. De Swarte takes his cup of tea. “Literally, nobody cares.” When talking to someone so smart and funny, it can be hard to remember that, for several years, De Swarte lived almost entirely on his looks, rather than his thoughts.

“When I was a model,” she says, “your job was to not talk and look pretty. It was also a time when advertisers said they wanted a black girl to be the face of a campaign, but I was as dark as they were willing to be. It must have been difficult for someone who, later working as a stand-up, would be defined by their opinions. “Everything was fine, actually,” she said. “When I was walking on the podium, I was just thinking, ‘I hope I don’t fall.’ And then I fell. To this day, it’s still one of the funniest things I’ve ever done – fall on my ass on a Gucci catwalk.

What was his face on the podium? “Probably the same face as when you do your pelvic floor. That moment before you sneeze. I think the same face we decided to read someone’s mind is too. I laugh. “I am one of the lucky ones of my generation of models. I came out pretty unscathed. »

Undamaged was not the word I expected. While modeling in New York, De Swarte was proposed by late sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein. “I talk about it on stage and it’s important to say it in a way that isn’t edited. I wouldn’t give you the responsibility of telling this story because it’s…” she hesitates, “it’s deep and it’s dark. Nor is it necessarily my trauma. It’s more than that. Will she ever write about it? “Of course, at some point. But I would like to be completely in control of the beginning, middle and end.

Having been diagnosed as dyslexic in elementary school, De Swarte effectively left formal education in ninth grade. Does she think this has had an impact on her sense of ambition and the future? “Nobody told me I was going to be really successful or really shit,” she says, with that nonchalance that reads, to a stranger, as easy self-confidence. “There were no crazy expectations.” After leaving school, she worked as a hostess at a shoe store in Oxford Circus and handed out leaflets, but wanted to explore what the rest of the world had to offer. “There was always an attitude in my family that I had to make the most of the choices I had. Now, as an adult, I like being able to buy whatever I want from the gift shop. »

De Swarte had just turned 40 when she landed her first starring role in The Baby, after a support piece in Katherine Ryan’s sitcom The Duchess; a whole decade older than Debbie Harry when Blondie’s first single came out. Is she aware of her age? “I had times where I was like, ‘Why are you scrolling on Instagram?'” She mimics basking in a social media meltdown. “‘You’re 40. Get together!'”

However, she is also aware that as a modern feminist things are much easier than they once were. “No matter how hard and difficult we find it, the previous generation had worse and had less choice,” she says, biting into a cookie. As a journalist, De Swarte made a series of films with intellectual and feminist activist Gloria Steinem, a woman she clearly loves. Are there still things, in terms of gender equality, that make her cringe? “Oh yeah. Being condescending, being in a meeting and not having eye contact, having to assert myself, having to defend myself; It’s exhausting. But all the things I have now are just wife stuff. Age 41. Like gravity, your skin has sound. It rubs its fingers together, while we laugh at the new friction our bodies have acquired.

Speaking of friction, what was it like sharing so much screen time with a baby? “It was hard,” she said, looking serious. “I love babies. And it’s hard to play an abrasive character when you’re holding a baby. De Swarte explains that for the role of Natasha, she spent a lot of her time holding babies ( the character is played by twins) off set, so they felt comfortable around her before the cameras started rolling. “As the show went on, I got to know them,” she told me. “When I met their parents the other day, they invited me to their second birthday.” She even learned to recognize their cries, to the point that by making an additional audio recording, she could tell they put placement cries in the mix, rather than the real babies.

De Swarte’s road to acting is as far as it gets from stage school, home counties, trust fund, the pale, masculine, outdated version so often found on our screens. How does she decide what to do next, how does she judge her own success? His answer is simple: “Do you know what men do? It doesn’t matter what they want. And that’s what you have to think.

ZION JOHNSON, 13

A family vacation in the mountains of Tennessee inspired McKinley Middle Magnet student Zion Johnson to create a work of art that very few kids his age are capable of.

The 13-year-old, with the help of his aunt, wrote, directed and edited a short comedy horror called “Tales of the Cabin” which included his family in the cast.

“We got there late at night and we were doing a lot of tight turns and everyone was scared,” Johnson said. “We all said it would be cool to do a horror movie and that’s where the idea came from.”

Johnson learned cinematography, among other art forms, at McKinley’s School of Visual and Performing Arts, but making movies isn’t what he’s most passionate about.

“My passion is musical theatre,” the teenager said. “I am a singer and an actor.”

Johnson auditioned and was accepted into the school’s talented theater and music program as a freshman. He said he took the skills he learned from Shane Stewart, McKinley’s talented acting teacher, and applied them to the film. He said 10 people from his class were selected to participate in the program.

Johnson starred in several musicals and plays throughout his young career, including Wiz Jr., The Lion King Jr., and Aladdin.

The film is nearly eight minutes long and is about a mysterious killer who terrorizes everyone in the cabin in different ways.

The movie ends without the audience knowing who the killer is, leaving the possibility in the air of Part 2 going forward.

WATCH THE FILM NOW

“Everything was fine,” Johnson said of the film’s reception after it was uploaded to YouTube on June 10, 2022. “People are asking for Part 2. They want to know who the killer is.”

With a family cast to assess, Johnson wouldn’t divulge who he thinks does the best acting job.

“Everyone held on,” he said.

The teenager has been part of the talented arts community since a young age, according to his mother and father, Tyquencia and Reginald Johnson.

“I think Zion was in a diaper and playing,” Reginald said. “I think it’s a gift from God. McKinley helped him and gave him a platform. His mother and grandfather are artists. It’s in his blood. I don’t think he understands the magnitude of what he is doing.

Johnson said if he films part 2, it will be during the next family vacation.

VShandraprakash Dwivedi’s Samrat Prithviraj had it all – Bollywood star Akshay Kumar in the lead role, tax-exempt status in three states and the endorsement of Home Secretary Amit Shah. Even his blatant attempt to tap into nationalist fervor doesn’t seem to be working. Since its release on June 3, collections have dropped by 53%. The film earned Rs 39.4 crore on its first day, while the total collection is only Rs 44.40 crore.

By all indications, Samrat Prithviraj, which had a budget of Rs 150 crore, is heading for a crash. Despite a heavy dose of Hinduism, dharm and revisionist history and Akshay Kumar’s claims that Muslim rulers find more space in Indian textbooks than Hindu kings, the film failed to impress viewers. .

Shows would be canceled at various locations due to to extremely low footstep. The film also faces fierce competition from Kartik star Aryan. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which was released on May 20, 2022. By the way, Akshay had starred in the first installment of this film in 2008, which remains a blockbuster to this day. The horror-comedy, which is in its third week, has already crossed the Rs 150 crore mark.

Akshay claimed the film was the result of 18 years of research. However, many viewers pointed out historical inaccuracies and mocked his portrayal of Prithviraj Chauhan. The 54-year-old actor played a 26-year-old king and indulged a co-star 29 years his junior.

Business analysts and entertainment journalists have shared a detailed breakdown of Samrat Prithviraj it shows that the movie didn’t pick up a pace even over the weekend.

He needed a stable Monday to stay afloat which did not happen even though he was made tax exempt in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.

Special screenings organized for the ministers of the three BJP-ruled states, as well as Home Minister Amit Shah and other cabinet members did not translate into an increase in theater attendance.

Few takers for Bollywood heavyweights

It’s not just Akshay’s performance that has been criticized. Other stars, including former Miss World Manushi Chillar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, as well as Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar, also received a mostly negative response.

The fact that the film is banned in Kuwait and Oman did not help matters. The United Arab Emirates is a great base for Bollywood films and Samrat Prithviraj missed that.

Big star movies have consistently underperformed in Bollywood in recent months. Akshay’s previous company, Bachchan Pandey bombarded spectacularly as he just succeeded Rs 50 crore in collections. Its budget was Rs 180 crore.

At Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey, too failed miserably as it hovered around Rs 20 crore. by Ranveer Singh Jayeshbhai Jordaar did not cross 16 million rupees. And Ajay Devgn Runway 34 earned a mere Rs 33 crore.

Even the Aamir Khan trailer Lal Singh Chaddha, which was dropped recently, received a lukewarm response.

The South Wave

Since the pandemic, with the arrival of OTTs and a breakthrough of South Indian movies, the public response to big Bollywood stars has been lukewarm at best. Of RRR at KGF 2 and even Major and now VikramNamesouthern films are opening to much larger numbers and stabilizing well.

Major and VikramName came out the same week as Samrat Prithviraj. Made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, Major is going well and should recover its costs. It has made Rs 35.65 crore so far, and will likely even be a hit.

Meanwhile, VikramName, billed as Kamal Haasan’s big comeback vehicle, and also starring Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, is the biggest hit yet. The film may not have found many takers in the Hindi belt, but has already crossed the 100 crore mark a few days after its release. At this point, it is the highest-grossing film in the domestic market.

The world collection for Tamil film is Rs 150 crore.

With access to multiple OTT platforms that display great content and the choice between Samrat Prithviraj and other films, the public gave a clear verdict.

The 2009 American comedy horror film Jennifer’s body stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried as best friends who are complete opposites. Jennifer (Fox) has always been a terrible friend, but Needy (Seyfried) ignored Jennifer’s behavior because she always valued their friendship above all else. Besides, she was kind of in love with her too. This movie received mixed reviews from critics, though it’s still a surprisingly funny ride with two unique female leads who go head-to-head with each other to question each other.

Fox took a three-year hiatus between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2016 and above the shadows in 2019. Now she regularly lands dynamic roles that brought her back into the limelight after her second divorce from actor Brian Austin Green. A film that has remained a cult classic in the realm of horror was Jennifer’s body due to its campy nature and awareness of being primarily a black comedy. The movie was released over a decade ago, but it’s slowly become a movie people show their friends at movie nights, embracing the fun, the gore, and the scariness of the movie.

Fox gained great popularity thanks to his role in Transformers alongside Shia LaBeouf in the 2007 film Michael Bay. His character was rather flat, as they used him as a one-dimensional romantic interest in the title character. She had won fans of this big blockbuster movie, but Jennifer’s body allowed him to really showcase his talents and range as an actor. Seyfried was also a wonderful partner for this film since she had her own fans of mean girls, Great love and Mama Mia! The duo fit in incredibly well and worked on each other’s energy in a memorable and fun way.

From leaning on cars to killing teenagers, Fox’s change in role added to the interest factor of Jennifer’s body after its initial release. Many people may not have realized that the movie was a horror-comedy at first, as the initial release didn’t have much success at the box office. Once the DVDs hit Blockbuster video stores, millennials gave the movie a shot, curious to see Fox and Seyfried in a movie together. The results created a cult following for the film. Many people enjoyed the cheeky humor of Jennifer’s bodyespecially the dialogue associated with the terrifying and deadly events taking place in the small town.

The movie’s surprise supporting characters were Adam Brody from CO and Chris Pratt, who made a breakthrough in Parks and Recreation the same year of Jennifer’s bodythe exit. Pratt had a very small role, but he and Fox worked their scene well together and had great chemistry for such a small interaction. Brody played the antagonist role against Jennifer at the start of the film, and he sacrificed her for his band’s popularity. This scene was a wonderful performance from Fox where she gave it her all and looked rightfully terrified and earned her scream queen status.

Fox continued to act in various roles after Jennifer’s body, and his career is gaining momentum. Her fans can never escape the cult classic gem with strong feminist themes and silly dialogue. Fox received praise from critics for her performance, and audiences enjoyed her surprisingly outstanding performance. She got the lead role for Jennifer’s body with her status symbol and sense of humor, proving she would go to great lengths for a performance she believes in.

Dooku’s story from Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi could illustrate his loss of faith in the Jedi and could become a tragic climax for the franchise.

star wars has one of the best abilities of any mainstream franchise to jump between genres and tones – with the vast galaxy providing ample opportunity for action, horror, comedy, romance and tension. But one of the most tragic elements of the overarching saga is about to come into the spotlight and could be a major addition to the canon.

The next Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi promises to reveal more about a young Count Dooku and his apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn. Considering the canonical facts and Dooku’s fate, the tale might be one of the most overtly tragic storylines. star wars approached for some time.

Tales of the Jedi will be a new animated miniseries focusing on distinct chapters in the lives of two prominent Force Wielders of the Age of star wars prequels – the heroic Ahsoka Tano and the evil Count Dooku. Dooku was introduced in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones as a former member of the Jedi Order. While concept art for the trailer shown to audiences at Star Wars Celebration suggested Ashoka’s story would be one of a life finding a way through troubled times, series creator Dave Filoni was quick to describe Dooku’s story as particularly dark. But given what audiences already know about Dooku, that shouldn’t be all that surprising.

In the current tradition of star wars, Dooku was taken in by the Jedi Council and trained under Yoda, which led to Dooku becoming a powerful and highly respected Jedi Master in his own right. He even took on a young Qui-Gon Jinn as his apprentice, shaping a character that would come to be of vital importance to the star wars mythos by being the one who discovered Anakin Skywalker and demanded his training. Dooku was a well-regarded Jedi in his day, but over the years he has become disillusioned with the world around him – the corruption of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order’s growing ties to the government have left him turned his back on the Jedi. – leaving him open to being approached and bribed by Darth Sidious, playing into the latter’s plans for galactic conquest.

Despite the majority of his appearances in attack of the clones and The Clone Wars highlighting his dangerous and extreme attributes, there was always an undercurrent of tragedy in the character. Stories like the canon novel Star Wars: Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray suggest that Dooku was indeed a good mentor to Qui-Gon, and that there was a time when he was heroic, and his fears of the Jedi becoming too entrenched in politics proved true – with their place in the Clone Wars ultimately leading to the eradication of most of the Jedi Order, something Dooku couldn’t even see. In essence, Dooku was the first domino in a long line to fall, with his true concerns turned by Sidious into dangerous dogma that left the galaxy torn apart and the Jedi ready to be destroyed.

Already confirmed as one of the stories at the heart of Tales of the Jedi, exploring what really shattered Dooku’s resolve and belief in the Jedi might be one of the most genuinely tragic beats the franchise has ever attempted. There seems to be no hint of sweeping romance, bittersweet sacrifice, or epic stakes in the story, just a deep dive into a good man who loses his faith in the morality he’s subscribed to, leaving himself open. to be corrupted into a pawn in a greater game. It is a tragedy, which has the potential to be a mature exploration of dashed hopes and good intentions. Whether Tales of the Jedi is as dark and deep as Feloni suggested, so it might just be one of the darkest stories in the entire franchise.

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is set to premiere in Fall 2022 on Disney+.
