Horror Effects Sculptor Jasper J. Anderson Gives Behind-the-Scenes Look at “Muppets Haunted Mansion”


Jasper J. Anderson is a special effects makeup artist and sculptor with credits such as The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, X-Men: Apocalypse, Call of Duty and Toomgis live commercials from AMPM, among others. And he also has a special connection to Disney, being asked by the company to faithfully recreate The Haunted Mansion’s coffin in the conservatory for the attraction’s 50th anniversary, as well as making a lightsaber for Disney based on an unused sketch. from Star Wars. When Disney put together a production mixing Muppets and The Haunted Mansion, it was the perfect crossroads for Anderson, who had worked for Jim Henson’s Creature Shop for several years. Anderson was approached by production designer Darcy Prevost to join the art department as a visual consultant on “Muppets Haunted Mansion” where he mixed the styles of the Imagineers who brought The Haunted Mansion to (after) life, with the humor that Henson’s characters are known for.
