Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards 2022 Winners List – Deadline

The ninth annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards takes place Saturday night in person at the Beverly Hilton, and Deadline updates the list of winners live. Melissa Peterman from Young Sheldon hosts the ceremony, which honors outstanding achievement by makeup artists and hairstylists in film, television, commercials and live theater.

The night has already been swept away, with The Kelly Clarkson Show (Daytime TV), Nickelodeon’s Dangerous strength (television programs for children and teenagers) and Cinderella (La Cenerentola) (Theatrical Productions – Live Stage) winning makeup and hairstyling awards in their respective categories.

NBC Saturday Night Live won three awards, for Best Period and/or Character Makeup, Best Special Effects Makeup, and Best Contemporary Makeup.

The triple nominees from the film side tonight include The Suicide Squad, House of Gucci, Coming 2 America and Tammy Faye’s eyes. Among the photos tagging two names each are Dune, no time to die, being the Ricardos and Cruel. See the full list of nominations here.

Since the Modern MUAHS Awards began in 2014, one of its big winners has taken home the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling every year. Last year, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won Guild Awards for Period Character Makeup and Hair en route to her Oscar triumph three weeks later – with Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson making history as the first black women to win a Oscar in the category.

2022 Awards Season Schedule – Dates for the Oscars, SAG, BAFTAs and more

As for this year’s special honors, Christina Smith received the Vanguard Award, presented by Milla Jovovich. Jon Favreau will receive the Distinguished Artisan Award from IATSE Local 706, and makeup artist Michèle Burke and hairstylist Joy Zapata received Lifetime Achievement Awards from presenters Paula Wagner and Lauren Schuler Donner, respectively.

Doug Jones, who is most closely associated with Guillermo del Toro, receives the first The Chair Award, which presenters Sonequa Martin-Green said was the award one would give to the person to whom you say “you deserve a medal for that”.
