This horror comedy film shatters your guts streaming

A horror comedy is To kill him streaming this week. Although Halloween was a week and a half ago and we’re rushing towards the holidays, horror movies are still proving to be extremely popular on the various streaming platforms. Concrete example ? An underrated version of Blumhouse released last November is finding new love on HBO right now and is one of the service’s most popular titles around the world.

According to the latest statistics from Flix Patrol, 2020 Weird is the fourth most-watched title on HBO across the world this Wednesday. As the title suggests, this body swap slasher flick is essentially a dark take on the classic Horrible friday model and definitely worth watching for its neat mix of laughter and gore, as well as some excellent performances from chefs Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn.

Newton plays shy teenage Millie Kessler, who accidentally changes form with serial killer Blissfield Butcher (Vaughn) after stabbing her with an ancient mystical dagger. Millie’s body turns out to be the perfect disguise for the Butcher as he is able to make his way through his school without suspicion. Meanwhile, the real Millie must convince others of the truth while looking like a wanted fugitive. Will she be able to recover her body before the tilt becomes permanent at midnight?

As an extension of his Happy day of the dead films, director Christopher Landon is once again a master of the horror comedy genre. With an impressive score of 83%, Weird is officially certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, while critics loved it, the film did not make a big impact at the box office. Fair enough, given the state of the industry last fall. It’s well deserved that comedy is doing so well now on HBO internationally.

Weird airs on HBO Max in the United States.
