Wesley Snipes: New ‘Blade’ Star Will Do ‘A Great Job’
Blade passed the torch and all of his other vampire hunting gear.
Wesley Snipes, famous for breathing cinematic life into Marvel’s vampire / human hybrid in three well-received films, has stepped down and appears to be content with it, according to a report on screenrant.com.
Snipes – who many fans were hoping would reprise his character as Blade in the film’s next reboot – said in a recent interview that he was “cool with it,” and added that he spoke to his successor, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. “The question of his choice was not between us,” said Snipes.
âI don’t walk around as Blade,â Snipes added, âso I’m not attached to the character like that. I don’t feel any emotional loss – zero. And I’m glad it’s recast, and it will. most likely a great job.
How about some tips for the new Daywalker? âMake sure you’re in good shape,â Snipes said. âTry not to get injured. The requirements of an action movie are that you have to be an elite athlete. Be well conditioned to survive and avoid injury. And, he added,â Take advantage of it. as it lasts. “
Earlier this month, Ali said he was “excited to start” the reboot – as reported here on Horror News Network – and confirmed that filming was on the horizon. “We’re getting there,” he said. âWe are getting closer. “
Very little is known at this point about the reboot’s storyline, but the film is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2023.
This new Blade is led by Bassam Tariq (Magnate Mowgli) from a screenplay by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen). âMarvel takes big swings,â Tariq said, âand I’m so excited for what we’re doing.â
The Marvel Comics character Blade was created in 1973, when writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan wanted to add to the cast of the award-winning film. Tomb of Dracula.
